Jon Olsson Invitational 2014 is just around the corner! Held in Åre, Sweden on 11 – 12 April, the prestigious event brings together the world’s top ranked skiers to compete in Big Air and Dual Slalom.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of JOI, so expect things to get sicker than ever!
I can’t believe that this is the 10th year that we are running Jon Olsson invitational in Åre, but I guess time flies when you have fun with what you do! The JOI concept was started 10 years ago, as I wanted to improve the standard of Big Air jumps we competed on in order for us to learn new tricks and push the sport. Over the years it has evolved to something big, combining both the sides of the sport that I love, freestyle and alpine skiing. The format of the event stays pretty much the same as last year with a few small changes and surprises. We have the Head Big Air on one side with the best freestylers in the world and the Betsafe Alpine Challenge with the best alpine skiers in the world on the other side, making it possible for us to run a super tight schedule and keep the crowd entertained every second of the event!
